MESMERISE - Meteorological Soil Moisture Experiment Series

The project aims to apply and compare innovative methods to determine the distribution of soil moisture for meteorological applications. A series of interdisciplinary field experiments shall be conducted to analyse the spatial and temporal variability of soil moisture and its relevance for meteorological processes on different scales.

A first field campaign including scientists from meteorology, geophysics, geodetics, soil sciences and electrical engineering was conducted from 5.-9. July 2004 on a field location near Bruchsal/Germany. Preliminary information about this campaign can be assessed using the links above.
