I am a PhD student in the working group "Atmospheric Dynamics" supervised by Peter Knippertz and Andreas H. Fink .  As part of the Transregional Collaborative Research Center Waves to Weather and works I work in the C2 project: "Prediction of wet and dry periods of the West African monsoon". Here, I investigate the influence of equatorial waves and extratropical Rossby waves on the dynamics of the West African monsoon system and predictability of rainfall variability. Jointly with Peter Vogel and Tilmann Gneiting (HITS, Heidelberg), I am currently developing statistical rainfall forecasts for the tropics.

Research Interests

  • Tropical meteorology and climatology
  • Rainfall variability in the tropics
  • Convectively coupled equatorial waves, African Easterly Waves
  • Tropical-extratropical interactions
  • Atmospheric teleconnections and seasonal forecasting
  • Biometeorology and bioclimatology
  • Agricultural forecasting
