The meteorological measuring tower of the IMK-TRO (coordinates 49 ° 5 '33' 'N, 8 ° 25' 33 '' E, 110.4 m amsl) has been collecting meteorological data since 01.12.1972.
The meteorological tower is part of the fixed KITcube.
Data are used for turbulence studies in the boundary layer, atmospheric dispersion modelling and climatological studies. The meteorological instrumentation includes devices for the measurement of
  • Wind Speed (2, 20, 30, 40, 50, 60, 80, 100, 130, 160, 200 m agl),
  • Wind Direction (40, 60, 80, 100, 160, 200 m agl),
  • Wind Vector (4, 40, 100, 200 m agl),
  • Temperature (2, 10, 30, 60, 100, 130, 160, 200 m agl),
  • Dew Point (2, 10, 30, 100, 200 m agl),
  • Shortwave and Longwave Radiative Fluxes,
  • Soil Heat Flux
  • Precipitation
  • and Air Pressure.
Mean values and maximum values refer to 10 min intervals.
