Sodar

Sodar (Sound Detection and Ranging) as a remote sensing technique is another important instrument for obtaining information about the temporal evolution of vertical profiles in the boundary layer. With the help of pulsed acoustic signals, the instrument gathers information about wind speed and wind direction. The measuring range extends under favorable atmospheric conditions up to heights of 1 km.
