Projects

The working group currently participates in the following research projects:

  • ESCOMPTE to analyse the influence of secondary circulation systems for the transport and diffusion of trace gases.
  • VERTIKATOR to study the influence of land use and the orography for triggering convection.
  • ENWARICL to determine the energy balance components and evaporation in an arid area of Chile (Elqui valley).
  • MESMERISE, to analyse the influence of soil moisture variability on atmospheric processes.
  • FreeLineSensor, to evaluate the applicability of a newly at IMK-FZK developed soil moisture sensor for area-wide measurements of soil moisture.
  • Monitoring the soil water content of flood protection dikes over large areas using geophysical methods (MODIVAC).
  • Geophysical analysis of climate induced mountain permafrost degradation within the Swiss Permafrost Observation Network (GO 4 ICE).
  • SANDWICH, to investigate the use of 2-dimensional spatial time-domain reflectometry to monitor the sealing of landfills.
  • Auslösung und Entwicklung konvektiver Stürme (CSIP)
  • African Monsoon Multidisciplinary Analysis (AMMA).
  • SNOWPOWER, innovative in-situ Snow Parameter Sensing System allowing accurate Calibration of remotely sensed Data for improved Hydro Power Resources Management.
