My research focus is on convection, equatorial waves, and their interaction. Currently I use an aquaplanet simulation to better understand how convection and equatorial waves interact on a fundamental level and investigate a realistic atmosphere in a global high-resolution model for comparison. My research interest includes
  • identifying equatorial waves using different filtering tools,
  • examining the thermodynamic structure using moist static energy budget,
  • understanding the role of microphysical processes in tropical convection,
  • and, understanding physics of organized convection in radiative-convective equilibrium.
