Within project C5 of the Transregional Collaborative Research Center Waves to Weather („Dynamical feature-based ensemble postprocessing of wind gusts within European winter storms“) I investigate the characteristics and dynamics of different features within extratropical cyclones that can cause high surface gust speeds (i.e. warm conveyor belt jet, cold conveyor belt jet, sting jet and cold-frontal convection) to develop an objective identification and climatology of these areas.
