will work on the stochastic simulation of heavy rainfall for the assessment of the flood risk within the frame of the project „FloRis“ (Flood Risk) funded by the SV Sparkassen Versicherung.

After organizing lectures and examinations at IMK and supporting the lecturer in various aspects over more than two and a half year, David Piper started his PhD in the working group ‘Atmospheric Risks’. In his thesis he will investigate the spatial and temporal variability of convective events over Central Europe. The project is part of Topic 6 in the HGF climate initiative REKLIM.
