Christoph Kottmeier awarded Alfred-Wegener-Medal of the DMG

Newly awarded laureate with the Alfred-Wegener-Medal

On 21 March 2022 Prof. Dr. Christoph Kottmeier, former head of the IMK-TRO institute, received the Alfred-Wegener-Medal of the German Meteorological Society (DMG). In a ceremonial act during the D-A-CH-conference in Leipzig, Prof. Dr. Clemens Simmer handed over the medal to him. Christoph Kottmeier’s longtime colleague, Prof. Dr. Thomas Leisner, head of IMK-AAF institute, held a laudatory speech. The DMG awards this medal, donated by the Association of German Meteorological Societies (VDMG) in Munich on 27 April 1966, to personalities who as scientists have made outstanding contributions to meteorology. The award, consisting of a medal and a certificate, should not be given more often than every third year. The IMK-TRO cordially congratulates Christoph Kottmeier to this outstanding award.
